  • New Horizon President Featured in Inc. Magazine’s “Dear Future Entrepreneur” - January 26, 2013

Manassas, VA. – New Horizon Security Services, Inc. President John “J.J.” Frazer was one of 10 Inc. 500|5000 honorees who inked their messages to the next generation of entrepreneurs on their hands and arms for a photo series by famed photographer Robert X. Fogarty called “Dear Future Entrepreneur.” Frazer’s message: Remember Where You Came From.

“I think it is extremely important to remember how you started your business and to constantly remind yourself of what it was like when you were in your employee’s shoes,” Frazer said. “As a manager it’s easy to lay out high expectations, but it is extremely important to remember what it is like to work a 10 hour shift outside in the snow or a 12 hour shift on Christmas standing in one place guarding a post.”

But “Remember where you came from” has an even greater meaning to Frazer, whose parents taught him an essential lesson early on – to be respectful and polite to everyone. With his parents’ message in mind, Frazer set out to make New Horizon a different kind of company, one that “makes the world a slightly more pleasant space.” Today, his employees are required to go one step further in customer service by creating “Moments That Matter” where employees seek out moments that can make a positive difference in someone else’s day.

“My employees should hold the door for someone who is coming in, they should help a person get the shopping cart to their vehicle if they are overloaded, they should smile and greet every person they interact with,” Frazer said. “I think the greatest measure of providing safety and security is giving out clients the knowledge and peace of mind that we are there and looking out for them. What says that more on a consistent basis than a smile and a kind act?”
